Billionaire fashion tycoon Anders Holch Povlsenreportedly lost three of his four children in the Easter Sunday attacks in Sri Lanka.
The bombings, which were reportedly carried out by a local jihadist group,killed 290 people and injured approximately 500 in attacks on churches and hotels. There have been 24 arrests as of Monday.
Povlsen, 46, the richest man in Denmark with anet worth of $7.9 billion, owns clothing company Bestseller, which holds a 26% stake inBritish fashion retailerAsos. Povlsenalso owns a 10% stake in German online retailer Zalando.
Jesper Stubkier, communications manager for Bestseller, confirmed tothe Press Association on Monday that three of Povlsens children were killed and declined to comment about the identity of the children.
We have no further comment and we ask that the familys privacy is respected at this time, said Stubkier.
Povlsen was vacationing with his familyin Sri Lanka.
He and his wifeAnne liveinAarhus, Denmarks second largest city. Povlsen has a brother, Niels, who also works for the company.
Povlsen is Scotlands largest private landowner and has12 estates covering more than 220,000 acres. Healso owns land in Romania.
His parents opened the familys first clothing store in 1975. By the age of 28he wasthe sole owner of Bestseller.
